Philippians 4:10

But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. ≈ Philippians 4:10

Sometimes a concept is so challenging, that we don’t even have the words to bring into meaning the very idea we wish to express. Nor how to readily comprehend, what we should know. Sometimes our reality resonates in such a way that even with our best intentions, we don’t see or grasp the silence looming gigantically before our eyes.

It is during these times that we must recreate our view. Reconstructing fixed patterns of thinking is no easy task. It’s not comfortable to question something that is inherently personal, viable, and certain. Everyone has preferences. However, the consequences and responsibilities for how those preferences affect others, especially children, must never be ignored.

Thoughts enable paradigm shifts. New ways of thinking that foster success for all children. The idea of “opportunity” is needed. Merriam-Webster’s simple definition of opportunity is “an amount of time or a situation in which something can be done”. The dictionary’s full definition of opportunity is “a favorable juncture of circumstances” and “a good chance for advancement or progress”. May all children have the opportunity to learn, to live, and to be successful…

Below are qualities that God desires for His children.

Acceptance (Matthew 19:14)
Courage (Ephesians 6:10)
Diligence (Romans 12:11)
Faithfulness (Romans 12:12; Galatians 5:22)
Forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32)
Friendliness (Romans 12:13)
Generosity (Romans 12:13)
Gentleness (Galatians 5:23)
Goodness (Romans 12:9; Galatians 5:22)
Holiness (Romans 12:1, 9)
Honesty (Romans 12:17; Psalm 15:2)
Humility (Romans 12:10, 16)
Joy (Romans 12:10; Galatians 5:22)
Kindness (Galatians 5:22; Ephesians 4:32)
Love (Romans 12:13; Galatians 5:22)
Obedience (Ephesians 6:1)
Patience (Romans 12:12; Galatians 5:22)
Peace (Romans 12:16; Galatians 5:22)
Purity (Ephesians 5:3-4)
Respect for Authority (Romans 13:1)
Self-control (Galatians 5:23)
Sensitivity (Romans 12:15)
Strength (Ephesians 6:10)
Thankfulness (Ephesians 5:20)
Training (Proverbs 22:6)
Vitality (Romans 12:11)
Wisdom (Ephesians 5:15)

Wouldn’t it be wonderful, if every child experienced those qualities in themselves and others? Lack of opportunity should never be the reason children fail… May all children succeed because they have… opportunity.
